Stable releases:

• Put messages_en.properties into the .../plugins/EssentialsX/ folder

Development build (uses MiniMessage):

• Put messages_en.properties into the .../plugins/EssentialsX/messages/ folder

• Restart your server (or reload with /ess reload)

If you're unsure what EssentialsX version you have, run /ess version, the version that contains dev is a development build (which uses MiniMessage) and is most frequently updated
